boring, convoluted,
By Elizabeth E. Nunley (Seattle, WA USA) -
What is going on? Have all my favorite authors started being paid by the word rather than the content? While I usually enjoy Jackson’s Benz novels, this one was not up to par. I could hardly wait to get to the end. In fact I didn’t. I skipped to the end about half way through.
An editor would have been a good idea, too. At first Benz is driving an Escape and then without changing rentals its a Fusion.- just one example. I’ll buy the next book but please give us plot not just a lot of words.
What happened to the Rick we knew?,

Bentz has been my favorite character in the past. This man is not the Bentz that Lisa Jackson previously created. After a great book where Rick and Olivia meet and fall in love, they are now suddenly on the verge of loosing their marriage to his obsession with his ex-wife. Not just about if she’s alive or not, but all the sexual memories he has of her. He flies off to investigate “Jennifer” when he has nothing to work with. His co-workers do all the real work.
Also, it’s clear who the bad guys are half way through the book. Jackson lost her touch with this one!
Even if you decide this book is worth the read, be prepared for the endless run of useless words that are meant to fill the book. If I had to read anymore detailed descriptions of drivers going through traffic… It really was difficult to care by the end of the book.
The end itself never did wrap up all the weirdness that Bentz went through in his emotional separation from Olivia. All in all, it was not worth the money I spent on the book.
Ughh!!!,

I used to really love Lisa Jackson books. They were exciting and I couldn’t wait to read them. I finally decided that life was too short and I actually stopped reading this one. I didn’t like the characters and I thought that the whole plot of the maybe alive, dead ex-wife was too unlikely. Skip this one and find something better to read!
