I recommend to every Joomla user who is less than expert - read this book! I had worked with Joomla 1.0 for about 5 months, so I already had an arrangement of several basic limitations: component, module, etc.. I bought this book just before Christmas and I took with me to read on holiday roadtrip. You know you read a book related to the computer when you can read and understand and make copious notes in the book is no margin to rest at a computer! Not only does it completed whites about much my arrangement about: Joomla (any version), but I felt excited, and much more confident about using Joomla 1.5. Great overview of Joomla, great details, great tips! A well written ’s Guide Thank you!

I am a professional web developer (mainly J2EE and PHP / MySQL), this book really helped me to make a decision: switch to Joomla!
The book begins with an introduction to Joomla! (and CMS in general) and then helps you to start your own site from scratch (fresh install without the content control).
Then you learn how to develop a pure CSS class and then there are three chapters devoted to developing the kind of three different places: school, restaurant and blog.
With a location and a dedicated forum (where Barrie meets ALL our stupid questions ;)) What do should I specify?

It was a very good guide for your Joomla! location not only in service, but running effectively. Barrie goes through a lot of information about how people get to your location and do if all goes well back. There are many examples throughout the book on how to organize a location and why you want to organize it this way. I created several Joomla! locations before obtaining this book, I wish this product had the other way around. I ‘m much more efficient now and I could use the information in the book to sell 2 sites in a week of reading it.
The only chapter that I had any trouble with was the chapter Templating. Since it ‘about SA that could (and should) have its own book, I wasn ‘ t able to go with my own design templates after reading it. I read another book on CSS / XHTML and after I ‘m going back and reread the chapter in class while I think I look much more reasonable now.
I ‘d certainly recommend this book. He has a lot of information that will make you much more decisive and effective design your Joomla! locations.
